How did your passion for horses begin?

Thibeau’s love for horses grew naturally, surrounded by a family deeply passionate about breeding and equestrian sports. “Horses have always been a part of my life, and our family’s shared passion is what drives me every day,” he says.

What are your most memorable career moments so far?

Thibeau describes winning  double gold at the European Championships  and his  5* Grand Prix victory in Riesenbeck 2024 as the standout moments of his career. “Winning at Riesenbeck was unforgettable. It was a dream come true to achieve such a milestone at the highest level,”  he shares.

What does a typical training week look like?

Thibeau spends Monday through Wednesday at home, focusing on training young horses and preparing for future competitions. Weekends are packed with international shows, where he competes against some of the best riders in the world.
“I dedicate a lot of time to my young horses and also attend training shows to ensure they are ready for the next step,” he explains.

The importance of a good mentor?

Thibeau trains with  Niels Bruynseels, one of Belgium’s most successful showjumpers, who he describes as an icon in the sport. “Niels’s experience and precision are invaluable to my development. It’s a privilege to learn from him,” says Thibeau.

Thibeau was also in the full program of the 2023 Young Rider Academy, among Jens Fredricson as one of the trainers, where he receives guidance from some of the world’s best trainers. He highlights the importance of these mentors in shaping his career and expresses his gratitude for their support.

What are your long-term goals?

Thibeau’s ultimate dream is to represent Belgium at major championships. Beyond personal achievements, he takes great pride in seeing horses developed at his family’s stable excel with their new riders.
“Making riders happy with horses we’ve trained is incredibly rewarding,” he says.

Who inspires you in the equestrian world?

Thibeau admires riders like  Steve Guerdat  and  Daniel Deusser  for their controlled yet natural riding style. “They are examples of excellence and inspire me to refine my own approach to the sport,” he explains.

What do you like to do in your free time?

When he’s not competing or training, Thibeau enjoys spending time with friends. “Most weekends I’m traveling for competitions, so I really value the moments I can relax and connect with my friends”.
