Before first use activate the safety vest by putting in the cartridge as it shows on the video. Important to screw the cartridge all the way down.
Attach the connector to the saddle. Important to put it under the stirrup bar. (Because it is the strongest part of the saddle).
Activation: Bhoof Safety Vest in action.
After inflation, start by unscrew the cartridge to release the air.
If the vest is not to be used immediately, hang it on a hanger – in that case, the air will automatically release within 10–30 minutes.
If vest needs to be used immediately, lay on a flat surface and press gentle with your hands on the channels to remove the air. Follow the instructions inside the vest.
Re-activate your Bhoof Safety Vest.
The cartridge has no fixed expiration date as long as it is in good condition.
If the vest has not been deployed for a long time or is not used regularly, it is sufficient to:
- Check that the cartridge is undamaged
- Ensure it is correctly installed
The vest remains fully functional as long as the cartridge is in good condition.
The vest has no fixed lifespan measured in years.
It's longevity depends on:
- How often it is used
- How it is stored
- That it is checked and cared for properly
We recommend that the vest is stored on a hanger or laid flat.
With regular use, we recommend an annual inspection.
Please contact info@bhoof.com to arrange this.
There is no maximum number of deployments/inflations.
What matters is that:
- The vest and all components are in good condition after each deployment
- No parts are damaged before reactivation

The Bhoof Safety Vest complies with the NF S72-800:2022 standard for riding airbags and holds the CE certification from the ALIENOR CERTIFICATION laboratory, assuring optimal safety and quality.

The vest is suitable for riders who weigh at least 25 kg. In Sweden children under 18 are not allowed to compete according to regulations. FEI rules approve for everyone.
We explicitly advise against using airbag vests during pregnancy, as the safety effects on a fetus have not been studied.
The vest should:
- Fit close to your body without restricting movement
In general, the vest should be worn as the outermost layer.
If a jacket is worn over the vest, it must contain at least 15% elastane to allow sufficient expansion.
The length of the connector should roughly match the height of the saddle’s pommel and be centered. The vest’s safety line, which attaches to the connector, should be slightly taut when you stand up in the stirrups, without being fully stretched.
The minimum riders weight is 25 kg.
If you have a horse with a wither height of less than 150 cm, we recommend using a shorter safety strap than the one included. This can be purchased upon request.
Recycle empty airbag cartridges at a recycling center as hazardous waste or pressurized metal containers according to local regulations.
If you identify issues like damaged jacket or lining, deteriorating tube or cartridge, visible rust, or signs of wear on the safety line or components, contact Bhoof’s customer service for exchange or repair. Contact us at: info@bhoof.com
